Charbel Rouhana sings the poetry of Ibn Hamdees, the Sicilian, through which the listener travels back in time in a voyage to the XIIth century.
Rouhana also brings Ibn Hamdees to our modern times with harmonies that the poet would probably have thought impossible. In this performance, The World Music Ensemble transports the audience to a realm where there is no longer “old” and“new”, and “far” and “near”, but where there is beauty for the listener who seeks it.
This concert comprises 10 pieces in which music and vocals are interwoven freely in an interplay that creates openings in between the Oud and the Persian Setar; It rides the delicate grooves of the hand percussions and fretless bass, and is set in harmony by Brass and Keys.
