The Asil Ensemble for Interpretative Traditional Oriental Arab music was founded in the beginnings of 2003 by
Mustafa Said as a concept in progress and a platform for training until its first performance in Cairo in October 2003.
The musical approach of the Asil ensemble steams from the musical tradition of the eastern Mediterranean region, especially that of the golden age of Abbasside music, and that of the second half of the 19th century.
The interpretation of this tradition takes two shapes both extended from within. On one hand the group centers it’s music on improvisation and variations on already composed pieces and on the other it relies on vocal recitation and instrumental Taqasims. These elements are adjoined together forming what is known as the Waslah.
